Age 35 - Revised Life Goals

At the age of 28, i came up with a set of life goals... looking back at these goals, they were rather ambitious. Fun goals but ambitious. Needless to say, being the underachiever that i am, i didn't get to achieve any one of those goals.

But i'm glad i did set those goals cos when i look back at them now, i see how i have evolved. 7 years later, i am more in tuned with what is important to me and what really isn't. As with everyone else, i have gone through lots more experiences, some of which were desirable and some of which were rather dreadful. I thank God for both the desirable and dreadful experiences for the good ones left me feeling that life is indeed worth living and the bad ones made me a better person now then i ever was. I like to think i have evolved into a more mature being but deep down i know i've got flaws that i will have to continue working on, some of which will take a lifetime of work.

I am without any doubt that in another 7 years, when i look back at the life goals that i have set today, the list will once again be shorter and more acute. With age, abilities diminish and we become more realistic about our true capabilities. Do not get me wrong, i am not saying that there are goals that we will never have the capabilities to achieve, i have always believed that you will always achieve what you set your heart and mind to accomplish. It is the capability of putting your heart and mind to achieving what you have set out that becomes more evident as you grow older. As with the saying "The heart is willing, but the mind is weak"

If i have to make a prediction, i would like to bet my last dollar that when i am 60 and a little less mobile, only goals 1 and 7 will really matter. But whilst i am still young and able, i like to stretch those life goals a little bit more and see just how much i have really matured by benchmarking my maturity to the accomplishments of the goals set below. I will go forth today with the mantra "I know i can.... i know i can..."
